What’s been happening at ABC in Queenstown?

Queenstown welcomed the start of winter with its famous "Winter Festival" at the end of June. A week long series of exciting and fun events were held down town, starting with the opening fireworks display in Queenstown Bay. Street parades, bird man competition, mardi gras and the infamous dog derby were just some of the events that ABC students were able to enjoy after school and in the evenings.

Last week the South Island of New Zealand experienced its largest snow storm for many years, closing airports and schools for a day! With snow to lake level, Queenstown was a beautiful winter wonderland.   This was the first time for many ABC students to see snow and they had a lot of fun enjoying the snow covered town. All our skiers and snowboarders of course were very happy to see so much snow and with the beautiful sunny days at the weekend, they were able to enjoy perfect skiing and riding conditions.

Elfri"Hello. My name is Yuka Shibuichi and I am from Japan. I came to study English Queenstown after being in the earthquake in Christchurch. I have spent 4 weeks at ABC and I could really enjoy studying English. Moreover I was able to meet absolutely wonderful teachers and make brilliant friends. Luckily all my classmates were different nationalities I could learn not only English but also culture. Everyone has been very friendly and enthusiastic about studying English. Their positive attitude encouraged me every time. I’m delighted to have studied at ABC College of English. I wish I could study longer!"
